Hide the Corpse

2024

Hide the Corpse is the latest VR game developed by Realcast on Meta Quest 2 & 3. It is a quirky VR physics-based game with a very simple idea: you find yourself in a room with a dead body and you only have 4 minutes to solve puzzles and hide the corpse before the police gets here.

The players can physically interact with everything around them (the most important one being the body!) by grabbing, dragging or throwing with their controllers.

Hide the Corpse was first released in early access on Meta Quest in spring, before being fully released this fall.

We produced 6 levels with different environments and mechanics, and in each of them 6 hiding spots to find and successfully hide the corpse inside.

If the corpse is successfully hidden at the end of a level, the player is given a grade for the hiding spot based on speed, amount of incriminating evidences hidden and remaining fingerprints. The next level is unlocked once 4 hiding spots have been completed, and skins for the corpse can be unlocked with high grades.

This is project has been in development since 2023 and became the main focus of the studio in 2024, moment when I joined the development team for about 9 months. During this year, the programming team reached 4 developers. Most of the production team collaborated in Unity using git.

My contribution

My role in the development team was to oversee the general architecture of the game code and implement or rework core gameplay systems, such as the verification system which determines whether or not the player has successfully hidden the corpse. I also had the opportunity to work on the scoring system, alongside the fingerprints and sponge system and the incriminating evidences system. Lastly, I worked on the progression, unlocks and save systems.
